Hi Folks,

Just a quick post to say that due to the fact that my home pc is on the blink I'm struggling to add any updates to this blog. Once I've got it sorted out hopefully things will return to normal. If any club member would like to run the blog in the meantime then contact me and we'll sort out user names, passwords etc.

Thanks for patience guys,
Andy

Thanks to everyone who turned up at the Dundee show earlier this month, all those who came said they enjoyed it.

We put on  a good display and there were plenty of other excellent models on other tables too. A few people went away with some bargains from the second hand kit sellers too. Congrats to Andy Canning for winning Best Of Show in the competition with his T-55 diorama as well as two firsts.

Our next show will be Glasgow Modelfest on the 13th Of October at the Kelvin Hall. I've booked the club 6 tables as well as a table of my own to sell some of my stash from, so if you have any models or associated items you want to sell off then let me know (there is no selling from under the tables allowed this year).

The next club meeting will be on the 20th September and it will also be the Battlefield Trophy Competition that night. The competition is open to all members and any subject or scale, so get building.

See you all at the September meeting (and maybe some of you before that at what might be the last Leuchars airshow?)

Scottish National Model Show

Thanks to everyone who came along to the show and helped us have an excellent dsplay and also thanks to my missus Angie and sister Kathy for running the tombola. Special congratulations must go to to James Small who won his class and also won "Best AFV in Show" with his 1/35 T-62

and to Andy Canning who also won his class and "Best Diorama In Show" with his 1/35 wrecked T-62

Well done guys and interesting how both were Trumpeter 1/35 T-62 kits, but were very different in presentation yet equally excellent. A big "well done" to you both. Also congratulations to young Euan who won the Junior AFV class with his T-72M-1 and Junior Diorama class with his T-54B. And more importantly his T-72M-1 won Junior Best Of Show! Excellent stuff and very well done

Darlington Sword and Lance

Thanks to Simon, James, George and Jonathan for joining Angie and me in representing Edinburgh IPMS at the Darlington Sword and Lance Show at the weekend. Ian and Lily were there too with Friendship. The new venue was an improvement over the old one, though a might chilly at times. A good time was had by all (despite us suffering a blown-out tire on the way back up the road, many thanks for the coming to our rescue Ian) and a few kits bought . In the competition George won two bronzes and I won a silver and bronze in the Aircraft class. Some of the figures in the competition really had to be seen to be believed, they were superb!

See you all on Thursday

IPMS Edinburgh Shield Competition

Thursday 15th of March saw our annual IPMS Shield competition take place. There was a great turnout with lots of excellent models. After the main vote and an extra deciding vote we had the unprecedented result of a draw. Rather than choose a winner by toss of a coin or similar it was decided to award a joint first prize. So here are the results of the competition in reverse order:

In third place, Ross with his 1/35, SdKfz 10/4

And in joint first place:

James with his 1/35, Stug III F

and Bernie with his 1/33, PWS-50

Well done guys and thanks to everyone who entered.

Remember June's competion theme will be "A Tamiya Kit" so get building.

Regards,
Andy
